The Pilates Studio
Welcome to the Pilates Studio
The Pilates Studio is fitted with Balanced Body equipment which has been especially designed to compliment the basic exercises learned during the mat classes. The equipment enables a greater variety of exercises to be undertaken, extending range and strength for rehabilitation and wellbeing.
Situated on the first floor the studio is light and airy. The relaxed ing atmosphere, with soothing background music, lends itself to the general feeling of exercising the Pilates way.
We don’t believe in high impact joint crunching or racing to keep up with the beat of the thumping music. Just controlled exercises backed by years of experience and results.
Established in 1998 this studio focuses on custom-made Pilates rather than ‘one size fits all’. All our teachers have had exceptional training and hold fully recognised certificates.
A high proportion of our clients have been referred by GP’s, consultants, physiotherapists, osteopaths, chiropractors, personal trainers or medical health insurance companies for return to work programmes. We lease with all referral partners to ensure an individual pilates programme is established.
Before starting your first class your instructor will ask you to complete an enrolment form that asks a series of questions about your medical history, current health, fitness and objectives. They will then assess your posture and begin to devise a programme for your particular needs. This will be developed and adapted as your body gradually improves and the instructor will continue to work with you as you progress and feel the benefits.
Matt Classes
These classes are taught in courses of 5 or 10 sessions during school term time. There are no more than four participants in the group, where you will learn the basics of Pilates including breathing, pelvic and shoulder girdle stabilisation and how to use the underlying abdominal muscles through a range of different exercises.
Introductory Course
An introductory course includes a full postural assessment and personal programme tailored specifically towards your needs. The course is taught on a one to one basis which will allow you to become familiar with the exercises and the equipment.
On completion of the course you will be able to continue with your personal programme, working within a small group, whilst at the same time progressing towards a more advanced level. All studio sessions are under supervision.
If you are apprehensive about paying in advance for a full course, without knowing if Pilates is for you, then why not try out an introductory session at £55.00. You will learn a combination of matwork and resistance equipment exercices.
Why are Studio Sessions different from Mat Classes
- Working on the Pilates equipment adds an extra dimension to the matwork as you are able to perform a greater variety of exercices
- The exercises help to increase bone density and muscle mass as you work constantly against resistance
- On the reformer machine you can do a complete body work-out whilst keeping the spine fully supported
- The reformer can also correct misalignment of the feet through a series of specific exercises
- Studio Sessions are particularly beneficial for those needing special attention due to injury and any muscle or joint problems
