Footballers Ankle

Footballers ankle normally follows an injury where the ankle has been bent or over stretched. It manifests as a bony growth at the front of the ankle where the joint capsule attaches. Inflammation of the joint capsule and tendons is caused by the bony deposits.

Symptoms
  • Pain and tenderness when pressing in with the fingers over the front of the ankle joint
  • Bending your foot up and down causes pain
  • When kicking a ball you get a band of pain across the front of the ankle joint
  • Bony lump at the front of the ankle
