Achilles Tendinitis

Achilles tendonitis is a condition that causes irritation and inflammation of the large tendon in the back of the ankle, resulting in pain and swelling.

Achilles tendonitis is a common injury among athletes, and is usually caused by the tendon being pulled or stretched, resulting microscopic tearing.  Other causes include poorly fitting footwear, and changes in an exercise regime, such increasing distance or exertion.
